You can't get away with eating junk food or eating too much food and still get results. The reality is that the quality of food and the amount you eat ABSOLUTELY matter.

YOU MAY BE MAKING THESE MISTAKES
#1: You're snacking constantly throughout the day.
Now this isn't necessarily a bad thing in itself, however the types of snacks you are eating throughout the day could be the problem. If you're eating chips and stuff out of the vending machine that's an obvious problem. However, you can eat too much of the good stuff too. For example, nuts are very nutrient dense, however they contain a lot of calories. If you're eating too many calories in a day, then you're not going to lose weight.
#2 You're consuming too many calories:
Most people don't realize how many calories is "too much". The reality is that there is a pretty small window of calories needed for optimal fat loss, and just to maintain. You could be eating healthy foods all day, but that extra snack at night literally prevented you from losing fat for the day. Or you could be eating great all week, but one large cheat day snuck in enough calories to set back your weeks worth of hard work....
#3 You're eating too many carbs and are insulin resistant.
This is a touchy topic in the fitness community and hotly debated. You only need to look at a food pyramid to see that the majority of your diet is recommended to be from carbohydrates. There are a few problems with this recommendation. First off, most carbohydrates today are very processed and not good for you. Most of your breads, snacks and cereals that are advertised as healthy... really aren't. Second of all, most people aren't well equipped to process very much carbohydrates. We'll get into it in detail in the course, but when our bodies are insulin resistant, much of those carbs will spill to fat. Finally most carbs need to be converted to energy when consumed or they convert to fat... however most people aren't nearly active enough to burn off the carbs they consume... therefore it turns to fat.
#4 You're not eating ENOUGH
Now I know this might be counter intuitive, but hear me out. If you have ever done a diet to actually lose weight quickly... but then rebound and GAIN IT ALL BACK PLUS EVEN MORE.... then you did the famous Yo-Yo diet. This happens because when we're too low in calories a host of things happen. Our body ends up eating itself and our hormones get all out of whack. Our body doesn't like it. When it comes to fat loss, one of the biggest problems is that our body begins to eat muscle tissue to burn for energy. So when you lose those 30 lbs, quite a bit of it was fat, however a decent amount was muscle. MUSCLE is our bodies primary defense system against fat. Muscle literally burns extra calories just by sitting on your body. So think about it, when you lose muscle, you're diminishing your body's ability to burn calories and destroying your metabolism. Therefore every time you do this, you gain MORE FAT the next time around. No Bueno.
#5 You go in with a short term mindset
Mentality isn't commonly discussed when it comes to fat loss, but it is a key part. Too many people approach fat loss with a short term goal: "I need to get ready for my wedding coming up... I need to get in great shape for my vacation where I'll be on the beach... I need to get in shape for {Insert your event here}. The problem is when you set your expectations on a short term goal like that, once that event passes, your brain is wired to let the goal go. The reality is that motivated fades... It comes and it goes. Guaranteed if you're motivated now, eventually you won't be. That's where your mindset and your discipline need to be set to take over. Without it, it's a surefire way to make your results very short lived
#6 You Stay in a Calorie Deficit for too long
This is a very common one. Some people that want to lose weight are actually really motivated and disciplined and stick to their diet to the letter. They eat in a calorie deficit with all the right foods and see great results... for a while. But eventually they hit a wall... the dreaded plateau. No matter what they do, they can't seem to break that weight barrier. A common reason for this, is that their body has been in a calorie deficit for too long. Scheduling an intelligent short -term break for the body is a great way to get your body back in balance and ready to continue the fat loss journey. Think of it as a long hike or journey. If you take ZERO breaks... eventually you're going to be moving at a snails pace. Once you take a rest and refuel your body, you're ready to continue down that journey no problem. Similar concept here.
